Your impact We’re looking for a senior transportation leader to grow and guide our Functional Planning & Design practice in Calgary . This role is ideal for someone who built their career on highway, interchange, and major corridor design, and has since expanded into urban arterials, multimodal planning, and early‑stage project definition. You’ll shape our Calgary market Functional Planning presence, help grow and lead a high‑performing team, and serve as a trusted advisor to key clients. You will work alongside our established Transportation team to augment the breadth and depth of services we offer to the City of Calgary, Alberta Transportation, and regional partners. What You’ll Lead Functional Planning for Highway geometric design, interchanges, and major corridor upgrades Bridge/structural coordination during functional and preliminary design Urban arterial planning and design, corridor retrofits, and operational improvements Multimodal corridor planning, complete streets, transit priority, and BRT QA/QC, risk management, and design review for major functional planning projects Early‑stage project shaping alternatives, staging, evaluation frameworks, and business cases Alignment with TAC, City of Calgary Complete Streets, NACTO, and municipal standards How You’ll Make An Impact Strengthen relationships with the City of Calgary, and regional agencies Facilitate discussions to drive decision-making with City leadership, Council, and community stakeholders Lead pursuit strategy and major proposal efforts in the Calgary market Mentor and grow a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, and designers Represent the firm at Calgary‑focused industry events and technical committees Here’s what you’ll need P.Eng. (or eligibility in Alberta) 20+ years in transportation engineering with deep experience in highway/interchange design Strong background in functional planning, preliminary engineering, and urban corridor design Proven leadership of complex, multidisciplinary transportation projects Established relationships within the Calgary municipal market Excellent communication, facilitation, and team‑building skills We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery.
