Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Director to join our world‑class team of economists, policy analysts, researchers, and data engineers. The Director of Talent Planning will play a central role in elevating and advancing Rhodium Group’s workforce strategy, talent planning, and human resources. This role is designed to enhance how the firm plans, hires, develops, and evolves its people by strengthening analytical rigor, expanding financial insight, and deepening strategic credibility in support of long‑term growth. As a senior leader within People & Business Operations reporting to the Partner, the Director will work closely with Partners and senior leaders across the China and Energy & Climate practices, translating business strategy into workforce implications. While not a traditional HR role, the position will develop and assume broader ownership of the HR function in the near to medium‑term. The Director will develop enterprise‑wide talent and workforce strategies that preserve Rhodium Group’s distinctive research culture while enabling flexibility, scalability, and financial sustainability across multiple, highly differentiated lines of business. Position responsibilities Partner and Senior Leadership Support Serve as a trusted advisor to Partners and senior leaders on workforce strategy, headcount planning, and talent‑related initiatives. Provide clear, data‑driven insights into workforce implications of practice‑level strategies and growth plans. Establish credibility with Partners and senior leaders through thoughtful engagement and analytical rigor. Support governance and decision‑making through the Partner committee on significant people initiatives. Workforce Strategy and Planning Develop and articulate a multi‑year workforce and talent strategy aligned to Rhodium Group’s long‑term growth ambitions. Translate firmwide and practice‑level strategies into headcount, skills, and capability requirements. Establish clear linkages between talent strategy, capacity planning, and business outcomes. Develop, propose, and implement organizational design and resource allocation models that are both scalable and flexible. Modeling and Business Alignment Build and maintain rigorous headcount and workforce models across practices and business lines. Link hiring decisions to practice and business‑line P&Ls, budgets, and long‑term financial sustainability. Collaborate closely with Finance on annual and multi‑year budgeting and forecasting. Forecast demand and supply across business lines, projects, and skill sets, enabling proactive deployment, redeployment, and upskilling of consultants and researchers. Talent Acquisition and Recruiting Strategy Build and oversee high‑quality, scalable recruiting strategies across diverse roles and practices. Bring greater clarity and foresight to recruiting while respecting practice‑specific needs. Strengthen long‑term talent pipelines for critical and emerging skill sets. Ensure recruiting processes are effective, compliant, and aligned with Rhodium Group’s values and culture. Human Resources Function Development Develop and mature the HR function as part of People & Business Operations, including:Compensation, benefits, and rewards design and oversight Leveling, career progression, and promotion frameworks Performance management and development processes Learning, management training, and mentorship programs HR metrics and firmwide HR budgeting Oversee legal and regulatory compliance related to people practices, partnering with legal counsel as required. Organizational Effectiveness and Culture Support and strengthen Rhodium Group’s collaborative, high‑performance culture as the firm grows. Collaborate with Partners and senior leaders to align career pathways, performance expectations, and development opportunities. Ensure people strategies reinforce Rhodium Group’s values and commitment to independent research excellence. Qualifications 10+ years of direct experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, or people strategy roles. Proven track record scaling talent across diverse business lines, with a strong grasp of each sector’s compliance, delivery, and talent demands. Experience in building workforce structures and the ability to plan for emerging skills. Experience in implementing ATS and workforce analytics tools (i.e., Workday, Rippling). 5+ years of managerial experience. The Director of Talent Planning will join at an annualized salary between CAD160,000 and CAD190,000. You will also have an additional year‑end bonus based on a combination of company and individual performance.
