Opportunity Snapshot As an Engineering Manager at Pixieset, you’ll lead up to two talented teams focused on building and evolving the core platform that powers our all-in-one product trusted by over 1.5 million photographers worldwide. Your teams will enable product engineering teams to move faster and more reliably by delivering scalable services and infrastructure used across our products. In this role, you’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Senior Engineering Leadership to understand developer, system, and organizational needs, and translate them into platform solutions that improve performance, reliability, and developer experience. You’ll invest deeply in people leadership: developing Engineers, Tech Leads, and building a motivated, high-performing team. You’ll guide technical decisions and help raise the bar on engineering practices, with clear ownership of platform health, operational excellence, and real opportunities to shape how engineering works at Pixieset. Your Impact Lead and develop a team of Software Developers, while mentoring and supporting Tech Leads to drive success across their teams Run regular 1:1s and support performance and growth conversations to motivate, develop, and retain team members Partner with Talent Acquisition to hire and onboard new talent, ensuring a strong and scalable engineering organization Own and be accountable for application security, reliability, and uptime metrics, driving continuous improvement Improve and maintain strong observability practices through effective dashboards, logging, alerting, and incident learnings Stay current on software development and UX trends, evaluating tools and technologies that improve developer productivity and quality of life Collaborate closely with Product and Design to align on priorities, clarify requirements, and deliver the right outcomes Evaluate and optimize engineering processes to improve delivery predictability, project efficiency, and timelines Provide technical guidance and hands‑on support to help teams navigate complex implementation decisions Identify and address group‑level process gaps, guiding cross‑team alignment to ensure work runs smoothly end‑to‑end Provide oversight on complex and high‑risk initiatives, maintaining day‑to‑day awareness of progress and risks, removing roadblocks, and partnering with leadership to drive solutions Role Requirements 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating production systems at scale 3+ years of engineering management experience, including coaching, feedback, performance management, hiring, and career development for software engineers Strong technical judgment with the ability to review architecture proposals, technical designs, and code; ask high‑quality questions; identify risks; and guide teams toward pragmatic, maintainable solutions Demonstrated ability to improve reliability, security, performance, and developer productivity through clear ownership, sound engineering practices, and measurable operational outcomes Practical experience with modern cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, incident management, deployment safety, and production operations Demonstrates exceptional leadership maturity, empathy, interpersonal effectiveness, and cross‑functional communication, building trust and alignment across teams Track record of building, growing, and retaining high‑performing teams, leading by example and raising the bar for engineering excellence Thrives in fast‑paced, continuous delivery environments - high ownership, strong attention to detail, and a passion for building world‑class software and teamwork What We Offer Hybrid work environment (2 in‑office days per week) 4 weeks of annual vacation & paid time off for office holiday closure RRSP matching $2,000 annual health & lifestyle spending account $1,000 annual education budget $1,000 annual charitable donation matching Comprehensive benefits: extended health, critical illness, long‑term disability & life insurance Company‑issued MacBook & home office budget Anniversary rewards & complimentary Pixieset premium account Team‑building activities & company‑wide events A workplace recognized for excellence – We’re proud to be certified as a Great Place to Work™ and named one of Canada’s top small & medium employers The typical salary range for this position is CAD $133,000 - $178,500 annually.
