This is an intermediate-level, hands‑on technical role for an Applications Development Java Programmer. The position requires significant hands‑on coding and development in Java to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for application systems, hands‑on coding, development and programming.Responsibilities Core Development & ImplementationCode, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code for high-volume, low-latency applications.Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing and deployment.Write well-designed, testable, and scalable code in accordance with software development standards and best practices.Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications.Analysis, Design & ArchitectureAnalyze user requirements to define business objectives and translate them into technical specifications.Participate in architectural and design discussions to create robust and scalable solutions.Produce detailed specifications and software design documents.Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation.Unit Testing & Code QualityCode and develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and performance tests to ensure code quality.Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting them for architectural review.Participate in peer code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality.Maintenance & SupportTroubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems to ensure they meet business needs.Prepare and produce releases of software components.Provide technical support for applications in production, responding to and resolving issues in a timely manner.Collaboration & DocumentationCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality software.Document and maintain software functionality, processes, and technical specifications.Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide updates on project status and technical issues.Required Qualifications5-8 years of Java Development experience in cloud environmentProficiency in programming in Java, API, Cloud engineeringHands‑on experience of building RESTful APIs using popular frameworks like SpringExperience in Oracle, SQL, NoSQL - MongoDBExperience in Cloud - Openshift Kubernetes, Messaging systems - MQ, KafkaExperience following clean code principlesSolid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.Able to independently work in fast paced and rapidly changing environmentExperience in systems analysis and programming of software applicationsAbility to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirementsRecommended QualificationsExperience in Financial domain with focus on Payments is a plusUnderstanding of GenAI, LLMs is a plusExperience in integrating mainframe applications with Kafka or API is a plusExtensive experience system analysis and in programming of software applicationsExperience in managing and implementing successful projectsSubject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Applications DevelopmentAbility to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictateDemonstrated leadership and project management skillsConsistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communicationEducationBachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experienceThis job description provides a high‑level review of the types of work performed.
