This position will help users interact with Twilio’s internal developer platform, manage our software taxonomy and cloud infrastructure inventory, accelerate developer productivity via self-service tools, and drive adoption of engineering best practices throughout the company.In the near term the team is focused on modernization, working to transition away from in-house legacy systems to cloud-native platform solutions.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, test, and deploy backend, frontend, and client-side applications for internal use at TwilioCollaborate with teammates and guest contributors via peer reviews, planning exercises, and pair programmingMentor junior engineers as necessaryWrite tickets, testing plans, and runbooks for the team, as well as internal documentation for usersSupport internal users and ensure system uptime by participating in a 24x7 weekly on-call rotationContinuously improve Twilio’s internal developer platform interfaces, local development tools, and platform onboarding processesIndependently own medium-sized features, authoring specifications and designs for features of moderate complexityQualifications Required:Ability to work in a remote, async software development environment leveraging GitHub, Jira, Slack, and ZoomProficiency in any/all of the following programming languages: Typescript, Python, Go, Terraform, BashExperience developing and operating software in an AWS cloud environmentExperience with relational database concepts and operations5+ years of full-time job experience in a software engineering roleExperience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code conceptsDesired:Prior experience working with a platform engineering focus in a software engineering organizationStrong opinions on developer experience and local development best practicesFamiliarity with front-end web application development and frameworks such as React, Angular, or VueFamiliarity with internal developer platform frameworks such as Backstage, OpsLevel, Cortex, or BattlestarFluency with AI platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT, and/or Copilot to accelerate software developmentExperience with SaaS and open source observability tools, such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, and PrometheusLocation This role will be remote and based in Ontario, British Columbia or Alberta, Canada.Travel We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other.
