About The Role Schedule: 14/14 Position Reports To: Procurement & Contracts Supervisor Position Overview The Buyer plays a critical role in managing the daily procurement of goods, services, and materials essential for New Gold’s operations. This position ensures that purchasing activities are aligned with organizational requirements, budgets, and timelines, contributing to the efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of operations. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating quotes, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring that all materials and services are procured and delivered on time and at the best possible cost. This role will have a direct impact on the costs and profitability of New Gold Inc.’s Rainy River mine location. Key Responsibilities Review, audit, and prioritize purchase requisitions to ensure specifications, budgets, and delivery deadlines are clearly defined and met. Conduct comprehensive research to identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on reliability, pricing, quality, specifications, delivery options, and terms and conditions. Continuously monitor market trends, including pricing fluctuations and supply chain disruptions, for key commodities. Act as liaison between suppliers, internal departments, and end users; assist with vendor setup and maintenance in procurement systems. Create and manage purchase orders in ERP systems (e.g., SAP); track and expedite orders, resolve overdue deliveries, and ensure compliance with terms. Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures for procuring materials, equipment and services. Negotiate pricing and outline agreements as identified by the Supply Chain Manager. Develop and implement vendor qualification and evaluation criteria including vendor certification and performance metrics. Reconcile shipping and payment documents and resolve billing issues. Perform other duties to support the team as required to ensure the Rainy River Procurement Team’s success. Qualifications Proven experience of 5 years in procurement in an industrial setting, open‑pit mining preferred; knowledge of mine site operations. Demonstrated understanding of Supply Chain operations and sourcing within a large resource company. Bachelor’s degree, MBA, or equivalent. Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPM) or equivalent training and experience. Excellent mathematical, evaluation, commercial acumen, and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Knowledge and experience using S4 HANA is a strong asset. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel spreadsheet creation. Ability to work under pressure and produce high‑quality work within time constraints. Good judgment, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills with teamwork ability. Successful history of building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local community, indigenous groups, employees, colleagues, and service providers/contractors. Compensation The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $95,000.00 – $115,000.00.
