About the role We’re looking for an Intermediate Underwriter, Non-Standard Risks to join our purpose‑driven, service‑focused team. As part of Canada’s largest P&C insurer and leading provider of global specialty insurance, you’ll deepen your expertise in the insurance industry and grow your skillset across a wide variety of lines of business spanning 180 countries. What you’ll do here Analyze requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes, and recommend thoughtful, solutions‑oriented decisions Support brokers with underwriting and rating policies, helping them place hard‑to‑insure property risks Use strong negotiating and interpersonal skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events as a knowledgeable and trusted representative of NSR Provide proactive support in growing the department and recommend improvements that enhance service and efficiency Rate and prepare quotes for new business and renewals with a focus on accuracy, fairness, and urgency Handle policy transactions including renewals, endorsements and cancellations with a service mindset Draft clear, professional correspondence including broker letters and memos Collaborate with teammates in Specialty Solutions and other Intact divisions to support shared goals Champion our NSR service values: Insurance is a right, not a privilege. We’re here to help What you bring to the table University degree/College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience Minimum 3 years experience in P&C underwriting. Experience in non‑standard risks is an asset. Strong knowledge in Excel is an asset Analytical and self‑motivated with a high personal standard of delivery Initiative and resilience under pressure in a fast‑paced environment Strong team player with exceptional collaboration and communication skills Skilled at developing and maintaining excellent broker relationships Curious and engaged in staying current on business trends impacting our industry CIP designation or actively working towards it Salary and Benefits Salary range (but not limited to): 74,800 – 91,400 Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance): 7.5% As part of our commitment to Win As A Team , we share our success with employees through our annual bonus plan and Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) – with Intact matching 50% of your net shares. Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35‑hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles.
