Department: Front of HouseWage: $22-26 per hour + tipsHours: Expected 36-44 per week, including evenings & weekendsDate: September, 2024 Position Overview Reporting to the Founders, Uncommon Cider is looking for a Retail Operations Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our taproom, farmers markets, and events operations, ensuring an exceptional customer experience, and driving revenue growth. This role requires a passion for craft cider and hospitality, strong leadership skills, and the ability to create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for patrons. Key Responsibilities Customer Experience: Create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for guests. Ensure high-quality customer service standards are maintained. Monitor and respond to customer feedback, ensuring continuous improvement. Using product expertise, sell and recommend additional suitable products to customers, including cider off sales and merchandise. Serve cider and small food offerings to customers. Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the taproom and farmers markets. Maintain a clean, neat and organized environment. Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance. Record transfer of product to taproom per AGLC requirements. Carry out and record monthly inventory counts. Maintain inventory control and order consumable supplies as needed. Develop and maintain procedures and checklists where necessary. Sales and Marketing: Develop and implement strategies to drive taproom and market sales. Plan and manage our portfolio of farmers markets, including maintaining annual applications, identifying new opportunities, and evaluating existing market performance. Coordinate promotions, events, and marketing initiatives. Actively engage with customers to promote off-sale and non-cider product sales. Work with the marketing and digital team to develop, and keep updated, all printed and digital taproom touch-points. Ensure taproom hours are up to date across all print and online locations. Assist with appropriate social media content to promote our retail and events activities, and drive engagement with new and existing customers. Work with the cider production team to create tasting notes and training sheets for all new ciders. Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor taproom and market staff. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals and expectations. Ensure staff ProServe records are maintained and up to date. Attend weekly and quarterly management meetings. Product Knowledge and Education: Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions. Provide training to the front of house and market teams on cider products, ensuring they are well-equipped to communicate product features and benefits to customers. Represent Uncommon Cider at festivals and promotional events across the province. Be a brand ambassador for Uncommon Cider and help to build enthusiasm and passion for our products. Financial Management: Ensure all cash handling policies & procedures are adhered to. Monitor and manage taproom budgets and financial performance. Implement cost-control measures to optimize profitability. Prepare and analyze sales reports to identify trends and opportunities. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations. Ensure food-safe handling and storage practices. Maintain accurate records related to licensing and permits. Qualifications 3-5 years of management experience within the hospitality or craft alcohol industry. Proven track record of increasing customer engagement and driving sales growth Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and inventory management. ProServe certificate. Own a vehicle, a class 5 license and a clean abstract. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings. Understanding of local alcohol regulations and compliance. Physical capability to perform event setup and teardown, including lifting up to 25kg. Passion for cider and a keen understanding of the craft alcohol market.
