Project Engineer in Building Science – you will lead the delivery of building enclosure projects, including investigations, design, construction document preparation, and field review. You will serve as the main client contact from early investigation and design through to tendering, submittal review, and quality assurance during construction, ensuring high‑performing enclosures for a variety of building types. Key Responsibilities Participation as part of the RDH team from concept design to implementation of new and existing building projects. Ensure delivery of services and products to meet RDH quality standards. Supervise staff on projects; provide mentorship to junior staff and support their career development plans. Building Enclosure Consulting Participate in and lead project meetings with owners, developers, architects, stratas, building owners and other consultants. Attend regular site meetings with owners, architects, contractors, developers, product manufacturers and other relevant parties to discuss progress. Review mock‑ups of assembly details within scope; use independent judgement on site and recommend modifications to design. Prepare site visit reports documenting observations and field‑testing results; provide recommendations for deficiency items, including field sketches where required. Review contractor’s shop drawings for conformance with the project intent and building science principles; consider scheduling issues. Review and comment on Requests for Information, Site Instructions and Proposed Change Orders related to building enclosure elements. Research building materials for alternative or new materials requested by contractors; evaluate and recommend to senior staff. Assist senior staff in developing recommendations to clients for new construction and existing build consultation; work independently or in groups. Act as a liaison with clients to foster strong relationships. Manage building enclosure consulting projects, including responsibility for financial performance, technical quality, staff resourcing, scheduling, and client satisfaction. Participate in business development activities. Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering, Applied Science or Architecture required; Master’s degree in a related field an asset. 7+ years of experience in building science consulting. 2+ years of project management experience. Significant field experience addressing site conditions and working with construction processes. Registered P.Eng. with EGBC or Architect registered with AIBC required. Skills and Competencies Intermediate technical knowledge of building enclosure design and construction principles, including local building codes. Excellent communication of technical information to clients, trades, employees and project managers. Analytical problem‑solving skills and strong investigative aptitude. Professional teamwork and collaboration with clients, staff and consultants. Aggressive focus on troubleshooting and diagnosing building performance issues. Proven team player who fosters teamwork and cooperation. Adaptability to shifting priorities. Strong project management skills with a focus on excellence. Benefits and Perks Base salary range: $80,000 – $100,000 annualized, dependent on qualifications, skills, experience and location. Eligibility for discretionary incentives and share ownership is possible.
