Assistant Professor – CLTA, Greek and Roman Literature and Cultural History The Department of Classics at the University of Toronto invites applications for a one-year full-time contractually limited-term appointment (CLTA) in the area of Greek and Roman Literature and Cultural History, expected to begin on August 1 2026. Responsibilities Teach at all undergraduate levels translation‑based courses in ancient Greek and Roman cultural history, and language courses in ancient Greek and Latin. Pursue innovative and independent research, establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research programme. Qualifications Earned PhD in Classics or a related area by the appointment date. Demonstrated record of excellence in research (refereed publications, conference presentations, grants and awards, research statement). Demonstrated excellent teaching record, with evidence of success at the undergraduate level and experience in translation‑based and language courses. Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Compensation Salary range $110,000–150,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience; negotiations beyond this range may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
