Job Summary Job Title: Endocrinologist Work Site: Community Based Location in Richmond Status: Permanent Full-Time Start Date: July 1, 2026 Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service In alignment with the standards of practice and the vision and values of Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the endocrinologist accepting this position will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and evidence‑based care for adults with diabetes across outpatient and inpatient settings. This role supports the Richmond Community of Care and contributes to VCH’s commitment to patient‑ and family‑centred care, chronic disease management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Clinical Scope: The successful candidate will provide specialized endocrinology services through the Richmond Hospital Diabetes Education Centre, including participation in inpatient consultation and on‑call coverage, as required. The clinical practice will focus on complex diabetes management, including but not limited to: Gestational diabetes, Steroid‑induced diabetes mellitus, Type 1 diabetes, Complex Type 2 diabetes. Care will be delivered in both ambulatory and acute care settings, supporting patients through education, treatment optimization, and coordinated transitions of care. The role includes access to medical daycare and specialized endocrine diagnostic testing, including but not limited to ACTH stimulation testing and growth hormone (GH) stimulation testing, in accordance with site capabilities and program requirements. Team Collaboration: The endocrinologist will work closely with an interdisciplinary team that includes diabetes nurse educators, dietitians, pharmacists, nurses, primary care providers, obstetrics, internal medicine, and other specialty services to ensure integrated and coordinated care. Endocrinology support will primarily be provided through outpatient consultation, with availability for telephone advice and management recommendations to inpatient teams as needed. Patients requiring specialist follow‑up will typically be seen in the outpatient setting. Urgent inpatient assessments may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis, depending on clinical need and service capacity.
