Data Analyst Health, Seniors and Long Term Care is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Data Analyst within the Information Management and Analytics Branch. Location: Winnipeg, MB. Salary: IS2 $71,813.00 - $95,246.00 per year. Duties Under the direction of the Manager, Administration & Operations, the Database Analyst provides analytical and technical support for the acquisition, extraction, and secure use of data from the Provincial Data Repository (PDR) in support of departmental business functions. The incumbent produces large data extracts from the PDR, works with source data providers to obtain datasets identified on the PDR Data Acquisition Roadmap, and stages data to support initial discovery, interim analysis, or reporting. The Database Analyst also supports PDR access and usage audits, provides privacy preserving data extracts, and works collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners within and outside of government. Qualifications Essential: Post‑secondary degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Demonstrated experience in data analysis, including building and linking large data extracts from both structured and unstructured data. Experience in database methodologies, design, and modeling, as well as systems analysis and database technologies. Strong experience applying statistical and data analysis techniques, including the use of programming and scripting languages (e.g., SAS, Python, R). Experience building prototypes from data models to support data analysis and visualization. Strong verbal communication skills. Strong written communication skills. Strong organizational and time‑management skills, including the ability to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to develop scripts and automate routine processes to streamline data workflows and improve efficiency. Strong ability to query relational and non‑relational databases (e.g., SQL, Oracle) for data retrieval and analysis. Desired: Experience using SAS. Experience working with health‑related data within a health system, program, or organizational setting. Experience working with all relevant areas of the big data ecosystem.
