Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, Canada, the Regional Manager of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting team for assigned locations within Canada. This position will support the continued growth of the organization by leading the month‑end close process, addressing technical accounting matters (including POC accounting), ensuring compliance with GAAP, and maintaining strong internal controls. The ideal candidate has a public accounting/private company mix of experience, is comfortable in a hands‑on leadership role, and thrives on problem solving rather than simply escalating issues. This role manages partners closely with operations to support revenue recognition, cost control, and profitability.Responsibilities Accounting and Financial ReportingManage revenue recognition usingPercentage of Completion (POC) accountingLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timelinessPrepare and/or review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesAssist with treasury function for assigned locationsPOC & Project AccountingMonitor project/job costs, budgets, billings, and marginsPrepare POC calculations, forecasting, and contract profitabilityPartner with operations and project managers to validate estimates, progress, and cost‑to‑completeIdentify and explain variances between actual results and forecastsManage, mentor, and develop accounting staffCollaborate cross‑functionally with operations, billing, payroll, and finance teamsProvide financial insights to support strategic decision‑makingCollaborate with Operations, FP&A, and IT to support financial reporting and process improvement initiativesCompliance & ControlsEnsure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policiesMaintain and improve internal controls and accounting processesSupport external audits and coordinate with auditors as requiredSystems & Process ImprovementOptimize accounting processes, systems and workflows for efficiency and accuracySupport ERP/accounting system implementations or upgradesDrive continuous improvement in reporting, controls, and scalabilityRequired Experience and QualificationsBachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and minimum 7 years of experience.CPA required.Prior experience in a POC accounting rolePrior management experience, ideally with direct oversight of staff.High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to research, analyze, and document positions under GAAP.High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficient with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.Problem solving skills with the ability to dive into technical detail and see the big picture.Who we are!
