Position Description Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance, The Fleet Manager will oversee our company’s fleet of mobile equipment and light vehicles. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance and long term planning of our fleet, as well as managing a team of technicians. This position is a key role within the Mercer Celgar maintenance management team. The successful candidate will lead the future development of our fleet, including planning for increased electric vehicle technology, greenhouse gas reductions, and improved reliability. Core Responsibilities Develop and implement fleet management strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs for the fleet of 115 units Annual maintenance budget Five year capital plan Light vehicle maintenance and optimization Lead the team of five technicians, providing guidance, training and performance evaluations Lead the accurate record keeping of vehicle and equipment maintenance, repairs and inspections using SAP Lead the process of coordinating vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and supplies Oversee the scheduling and coordination of equipment maintenance and repairs Monitor fuel consumption and other operational metrics to identify areas for improvement Lead and coordinate the maintenance of our on site rail yard Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards Coordinate with other departments to ensure fleet availability meets operational demands Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in fleet management technology Qualifications and Experience Proven experience as a Fleet Manager or similar role Training or experience in the mechanical trades or engineering is an asset Experience working in a unionized setting is an asset Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and manage a team while making sound decisions under pressure Experience with LEAN management or Situational Leadership training is an asset Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment The salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
