Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Bookkeeping & Accounting: Maintain accurate financial records, oversee all accounting and finance processes; A/R, A/P, payroll. Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts. Preparation of account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, month-end financial reports. Payroll & Benefits: Process bi-weekly payroll and benefits files using Jonas Construction Software, including all government and union remittances. Financial Reporting: Assist with month-end closing, prepare internal financial statements for external parties on a quarterly basis, and analyze budget variances (actual vs. projected costs) as required. Operational Admin: Provide administrative support as required, such as maintaining office records, managing contracts, initiate, prepare and provide ad-hoc reporting/analysis and research to assist management in decision making. Compliance: Manage compliance with local, provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, such as monthly/quarterly/annual EHT, HST, WSIB remittances. Year End: Lead the year-end Financial Statement preparation process for City Electric Inc and City Group of Companies by preparing a comprehensive set of working paper files for external CPAs. This includes, but not limited to: WIP Schedule Reconciliations, Account analysis, fixed asset schedules. Supervise and mentor office staff and coordinate cross-function training as required. Ensure best practices are in place and implement improvements to key operating activities and processes. Requirements University degree Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required. Professional accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset. Minimum 5-7 years of operational accounting experience. Construction industry experience is preferred. Experience with JONAS Construction Software is an asset. Knowledge of best practices in finance, accounting, budgeting, asset management, internal controls, cost control principles. Ability to work independently, problem-solve, work under pressure and obtain results quickly while managing many competing priorities.
