Responsibilities include: Read electrical diagrams, blueprints and other technical drawings to complete assemblies and installation. Position and install components, sub-assemblies and accessories such as engines, transmissions, door panels or control panels using hand and power tools and other supports such as overhead winches. Adjust components such as doors, hoods, and trunk lids. Check motor vehicle exterior primers and coats of paint, sealants and enamels, and evaluate, mark, record and report defects that need repair. Drive and test motor vehicles on a roller tester to ensure the transmission, axle, motor and brake are in good working order. Requirements A high school diploma is usually required. The skills required for occupations in this unit group are usually acquired through on-the-job training. Migration is possible for jobs within the same production department. Experience leads to supervisory positions.
