WHO WE NEED Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is seeking a Data Analytics Intern to join our Audience Insights team through the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage (YCWBCH) programme. This internship offers a unique opportunity for a recent graduate to contribute to ROM’s growing data and analytics capabilities, supporting the Museum’s transition toward more data‑informed decision‑making. Working within a collaborative, cross‑functional environment, the intern will gain hands‑on experience analyzing and interpreting data on visitation, audience engagement, and institutional performance. The Data Analytics Intern will contribute to meaningful, real‑world projects that support strategic planning and operational insights across the Museum. This includes working with a variety of datasets such as survey data, ticketing and CRM data, and digital analytics to uncover trends, generate insights, and support reporting for internal stakeholders. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a strong interest in data analytics, who is looking to apply their academic training in a practical setting while building a portfolio of applied analytical work within the arts and cultural sector. This role will provide exposure to the full analytics lifecycle, from data preparation and analysis to visualization and stakeholder presentation. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Analyze and interpret data from multiple sources, including visitor surveys, ticketing and CRM systems, and digital analytics platforms, to identify trends and generate actionable insights Clean, organize, and validate datasets to support accurate and reliable analysis across Audience Insights projects Develop draft dashboards, reports, and data visualisations that support decision‑making across departments Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business questions, define data needs, and translate findings into clear, accessible insights Support the preparation of reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, to communicate key findings and recommendations Assist in integrating and reconciling data from multiple systems to improve consistency and usability of reporting outputs Document methodologies, processes, and reporting frameworks to support knowledge sharing and ongoing use by internal teams Contribute to ongoing analytics initiatives that support ROM’s strategic priorities, including audience engagement, programme evaluation, and operational performance WHAT YOU BRING A recent college or university degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related discipline Foundational experience working with data, including cleaning, organising, and analysing datasets through academic projects, internships, or research Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and insights within data Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar Experience writing and interpreting SQL queries Ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively, including translating data into insights for non‑technical audiences Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with data Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively Experience working with multiple data sources (e.g., survey data, CRM data, or web analytics) is an asset Interest in applying data analytics within a museum, cultural, or public sector environment ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS (Young Canada Works – Building Careers in Heritage Programme) Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada Be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Social Insurance Number Be between the ages of 16 and 30 (inclusive) at the start of employment Be a recent college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate) Youth from equity‑deserving groups are strongly encouraged to apply Be unemployed or underemployed at the start of the internship SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT START DATE: June 2026 END DATE: November/December 2026 OPEN DATE: April 24, 2026 CLOSE DATE: May 8, 2026 STATUS: Full‑time contract EMPLOYEE GROUP: Non‑Union EXPECTED COMPENSATION: $27.50 per hour SCHEDULE: 35 hours per week for a period of approximately 6 months PROBATIONARY PERIOD: The internship period will serve as the evaluation period for this role LOCATION (onsite): Toronto, ON WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE ROM Daily interactions with Toronto’s diverse culture and international visitors offer insights into social and cultural trends.
