Design Specialist – Electronics (III) Location: Waterloo, Canada Responsible for designing schematic and layout with a system-level perspective and making camera design contributions both individually and as a team. What You Will Do Design electrical circuits for machine vision camera test boards and camera boards. Design PCB stack‑up and layout plans. Collaborate with the PCB Layout team to implement circuits on PCB. Adhere to Teledyne DALSA design standards for schematic entry and component selection. Optimize board design for cost, manufacturability, and testability. Write design review documentation and conduct design review meetings. Run electrical circuit simulations. Debug and bring up new board designs. Troubleshoot existing board designs in labs and on the production floor. Optimize machine vision imaging performance at the system level. Rework circuits on PCB with a soldering iron. Assist the production team to ensure on‑time delivery of products to customers. Maintain a system design mindset and collaborate across electrical, firmware, FPGA, mechanical, thermal, and test design disciplines. Disseminate technical design information and lessons learned to technical designers at Teledyne DALSA. Prepare and deliver presentations about electronics design to technical designers and managers. Collaborate with other technical designers on new camera design ideas and implementation concepts. Respond promptly to requests from the production team or customers. What You Need Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience. Experience designing electrical circuits using ADC, DAC, SMPS, LDO, Op‑amp, clock generators, buffers, FPGA, microcontrollers, and fiber‑optic transceivers. Proficiency with schematic entry tools such as Siemens PADS. Hands‑on experience using oscilloscopes and multimeters. Knowledge of communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and Ethernet. Experience in multi‑gigabit signal circuit design on PCB. Experience in board and cable interconnect solutions. Preferred Skills/Experience Experience in scientific, medical, or other high‑performance and high‑reliability product designs.
