Birch Hill Construction is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its Moncton, NB office and oversee day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting project‑based accounting activities. The Accounting Manager will lead and develop a team of three accounting professionals and work closely with the Vice President, Finance on ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives. Responsibilities Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with ASPE and internal accounting policies; Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, including job cost, WIP, inventory, fixed assets, accruals, and project‑related balances; Prepare and review financial reporting packages, variance analyses, and management reports to support operational decision‑making; Manage full‑cycle job cost accounting, including percentage‑of‑completion reporting, WIP schedules, contract setup, billing, revenue recognition, and retainage tracking; Partner closely with Project Managers and Operations to review job performance, costs, change orders, margins, and cash flow, proactively identifying project risks and opportunities; Supervise, mentor, and develop a small accounting team, providing delegation, coaching, performance feedback, and support for ongoing development; Maintain and strengthen internal controls while identifying and implementing process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and system enhancements; Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions, supporting audit, tax, and statutory compliance requirements including sales and payroll tax filings. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience; Construction or project‑based industry experience strongly preferred; Strong knowledge of ASPE, job costing, WIP, and percentage of completion accounting; Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management; Experience managing banking relationships, audits, and external advisors; Demonstrated ability to partner with operations and influence decision making; Strong leadership, communication, and business acumen; High integrity, sound judgment, and a hands‑on leadership style.
