Course Information An exploration of educational research with an emphasis on understanding, critically evaluating, and applying research in professional practice settings. Consideration will be given to the relationship between research and practice, methodological issues, and Indigenous and non-Indigenous world views and social theories that inform research design, interpretation and analysis. Responsibilities You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades. Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards. Qualifications A PhD or EdD in Indigenous Education or in a related field is preferred; a demonstrated understanding of and expertise in Indigenous Education in Canada or internationally is required; must possess a broad general knowledge of research with an emphasis on decolonizing, critically evaluating and applying research in professional practice settings; understanding of Indigenous worldviews and how these worldviews inform research design; skilled in the use of innovative teaching methods for professional education. This course is for the Leadership in Indigenous Education program and will be offered in an intensive course format on-site over weekends.
