Job Summary The Energy Manager is responsible for the strategic development and execution of energy projects as well as the continuous commissioning and energy performance in a portfolio of buildings. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of identifying and implementing energy conservation measures at the commercial building portfolio level, quantifying and reporting successes to demonstrate the value of the role. Within the current setting of heightened environmental awareness, this position will be a key driver in reducing the client’s utilities cost across a large portfolio of buildings. Key Duties & Responsibilities Identify buildings best suited for energy retrofit projects. Identify opportunities for specific energy‑saving measures in buildings. Develop energy audit and re‑commissioning scopes of work; conduct high‑level audits remotely and on‑site. Recommend energy retrofit projects based on studies, analyses, audits, and re‑commissioning processes. Analyze and assess building automation and control system data to identify low‑cost/no‑cost opportunities. Direct the consultant and contractor throughout the feasibility study, design development, tendering, construction, and commissioning phases of energy retrofit projects. Support the project management team in delivering other projects that impact energy consumption. Develop measurement and verification plans and gain client agreement for all projects, capturing both energy and non‑energy benefits. Develop and maintain a low‑cost/no‑cost energy program, working with facility managers and driving tenant communication and engagement. Conduct energy assessments when consumption significantly varies from expected performance. Participate in developing the building management plan. Work closely with building technicians to ensure continuous commissioning and energy performance improvement of building systems. Identify, implement, and track energy‑saving challenges and opportunities. Provide a venue for technicians to share experience. Educate technicians in energy‑saving practices and technologies. Review building performance reports. Develop new practices to improve energy performance. Implement and maintain sub‑metering and measurement and verification systems. Monitor energy retrofit project performance and intervene when systems under‑perform. Quantify, track and report all energy saving initiatives to internal and external parties. Support resource scheduling for the delivery of internal and external energy reports. Support Client Facing Teams with their energy reporting needs. Perform other duties as required. Knowledge & Skills Community college diploma or university degree in engineering, energy, or building system technology. Minimum five years of experience managing energy and/or delivering energy retrofit projects in facilities. Demonstrated track record of identifying and deploying energy conservation measures in commercial buildings. Ability to build relationships with project managers, property managers, building technicians, consultants, and contractors. Experience working with building controls systems and/or writing HVAC sequences of operation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience leading consulting teams (asset). Project management experience (asset). Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation Certified Energy Management Professional from the Association of Energy Engineers (required). CMVP from the Association of Energy Engineers (asset). Professional Engineer (asset). Salary This is a regular, full‑time position with a salary range of $82,432 to $103,040 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education, and performance related to this role.
