The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United, and AtkinsRéalis located in Kincardine, Ontario. The group leads the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program, which replaces the main components of six reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. The scope includes removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders, along with construction management and trade labour, as part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program that allows CANDU units to continue operating safely through 2064. Reporting functionally to the Welding Manager, the Welding Specialist will support welding activities associated with MCR Feeder and Fuel Channel Replacement. What You’ll Do Here Develop welding techniques, procedures, and equipment applications using production specifications, metal properties, and welding engineering principles. Provide expertise and work closely with welders, supervisors, and welding engineers to determine optimal welding parameters and consumable selection. Ensure site conditions are suitable for planned welding activities before mobilizing operators, and perform corrections with the Execution Construction Team. Maintain a regular job‑site presence to monitor in‑process welding activities. Verify that operators follow correct welding procedures and that tooling and equipment are properly configured. Review weld data and results after completion. Lead welding and tooling troubleshooting activities on site. Report welding‑related issues, including tooling and human performance problems, to supervision. Support emergent procedure development activities. Supervise training and qualification of new welding operators. Prepare Aecon technical specifications and requisitions for consumables, including special purchasing instructions. Interpret Aecon and customer drawings, codes, standards, and procedures, and communicate findings to project personnel. Ensure process control throughout critical welding activities. Train welders on procedures, processes, equipment, and maintenance. Review drawings to determine joint configurations and welding symbols. Manage qualification of welders for field and shop personnel as needed. Stay current with and introduce new technologies. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Bring To The Team Minimum 3 years of manufacturing/fabrication or related industry knowledge. Graduate of a Welding Technology Program or equivalent, or equivalent practical experience. Certification as a CWB Welding Supervisor (asset). Strong working knowledge of arc welding processes and equipment. Knowledge of ASME Code Section IX, CWB W47.1, CSA W59, AWS D1.1/D1.6 (asset). Familiarity with NDE methods (VT/MT/PT/RT, UT). Experience operating and supporting orbital welding tooling (asset). General knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures. Working knowledge of MS Office applications. Team‑oriented and collaborative. Strong written, verbal communication, and problem‑solving skills. Salary Range: $75,000 – $100,000 per year.
