At Torngat Metals, we are developing the Strange Lake project to meet the urgent global demand for responsibly sourced rare earths that are essential to the energy transition. A key component of our project is located on the North Shore, particularly in Sept-Îles, where the separation plant will be established. Collaboration with Indigenous partners and local communities is central to our approach and essential to the responsible development of the project. Torngat Metals is seeking qualified Community Liaison Officers based on the North Shore, including Sept-Îles or Uashat mak Mani-utenam (ITUM). Reporting to the Director, Community Relations and Partnerships, this role is responsible for supporting the development of strong, respectful relationships and contributing to community engagement activities with Innu communities and local stakeholders. The role will evolve with the project’s advancement into operations. What You’ll Do: Support the development and maintenance of respectful, long-term relationships with Innu communities on the North Shore Contribute to community engagement and consultation activities with community members, organizations, and rights holders Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including Elders, youth, land users, businesses, and community leaders Assist in planning and coordinating meetings, information sessions, and community events Ensure clear and accessible communication of project-related information Gather, document, and communicate community feedback, concerns, and expectations Support the integration of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives into project activities Contribute to the preparation and distribution of communication materials Maintain tracking tools to support reporting and follow-up on commitments Identify emerging issues and support the continuous improvement of engagement approaches What We’re Looking For: Strong knowledge of Innu communities on the North Shore, particularly ITUM College diploma or bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences, community development, or a related field, or equivalent experience Experience in community relations, customer service, or field-based roles Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to build trust and demonstrate diplomacy Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and attention to detail Fluency in French and working knowledge of English Knowledge of Innu-aimun (a strong asset) Availability to travel (approximately 25%) Why You’ll Love It: Competitive compensation with a bonus program Group RRSP with up to 5% employer contribution Flexible hours and hybrid work schedule Generous benefits (health, dental and vision) Professional development and career advancement opportunities Free coffee!
