The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is part of a team overseeing development of new ARTMS products, as well as manufacturing, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of existing products. This role will primarily focus on existing products – solid target stations, transfer systems and equipment related to cyclotron‑based isotope manufacturing and processing. Key Accountabilities Lead and contribute to mechanical design and product development activities, from concept through production launch (prepare and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation; coordinate and facilitate design reviews, dFMEAs/pFMEAs, and other risk management activities; plan and execute testing and validation activities to verify design performance and compliance). Lead engineering change processes for existing products, driving design updates, reliability enhancements, and cost or manufacturability improvements. Manage engineering projects to ensure tasks stay within scope and are completed in a timely manner against competing priorities. Collaborate closely with the Chemistry team to integrate material selection, formulation, and performance considerations into mechanical designs and testing. Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting production issues and implementing process or design improvements. Collaborate with the Quality team to investigate nonconformances, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventive actions. Demonstrate and promote safe work habits and enforce a clean and organized working environment. Work within guidelines to ensure that the Company meets all regulatory requirements, including relevant cGMP, ISO, nuclear safety, and transportation and dangerous goods requirements. Assist in development and continual improvement of QC, QA and QMS; assist with in‑house compliance audits. Position may require the incumbent to be trained as a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW). Education And Experience A Bachelor degree and 8+ years of experience; OR a Masters Degree and 6+ years of experience; OR a PhD and 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or related science field. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally. Strong mechanical design skills using 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred. Attention to detail, self‑motivated, and able to achieve assigned goals and objectives. Experience with 3D printing / rapid prototyping. Occasional extended hours or shift work may be required; some travel, including international travel, may also be necessary (up to 10%). Knowledge and experience working within GMP, compliance regulations and/or ISO9001 standards. EIT registration with EGBC (PEng preferred). Desired Demonstrated knowledge of cyclotron hardware, especially target stations, target transfer systems and radioisotope processing systems. Machining or CNC experience. Familiarity with GD&T.
