In this role, you will join a collaborative team focused on maintaining system performance and delivering an exceptional customer experience.This is a multidisciplinary, hands‑on role involving mechanical, electrical, and cryogenic systems. You will be responsible for building, upgrading, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex quantum computing systems that support our Leap quantum cloud service. You will also work closely with R&D teams to improve system reliability, serviceability, and operational processes. This position is based in Burnaby, BC, with occasional travel to customer and field sites. Participation in an on‑call rotation supporting production systems is required. As a customer‑facing role, strong communication and relationship‑building skills are essential.What you’ll doParticipate in system builds, installations, upgrades, and maintenanceTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain cryogenic and electromechanical systems in lab and field environmentsWork closely with hardware and R&D teams to improve system design, reliability, and serviceabilityDevelop and improve service procedures, troubleshooting documentation, and incident response processesBuild strong working relationships with customers, partners, and host facilities personnelSupport production systems through participation in an on‑call rotationWhat you’ll bringBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent combination of education and experience3–5 years of hands‑on experience supporting complex multidisciplinary electromechanical systems in lab and/or production environmentsStrong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and electromechanical systemsExperience with scripting, PLC logic, or programming languages such as Python or C/C++Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively across teamsExperience with cryogenic and/or high‑vacuum systemsUnderstanding of networking protocols, IT infrastructure, and Linux/UNIX operating systemsExperience with P&IDs, fluid control systems, or electromechanical control systemsCurrent or eligible registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBCExperience providing technical support or contributing to technical product developmentAdditional requirementsParticipation in an on‑call rotation and willingness to work flexible hours during busy periodsThis role requires occasional travel (approximately 10%) to customer sites across North America and Europe, including short‑term work assignments in the United States.
