Senior Water Quality Modeller As a Senior Water Quality Modeller, you will play a pivotal leadership role delivering complex water quality modelling and environmental assessment work, primarily supporting Canada’s mining sector. Based in Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton, you’ll join a highly respected team of more than 20 water quality scientists and engineers known for technical excellence and regulatory credibility.In this role, you’ll lead multidisciplinary project teams, guide advanced modelling programs, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, regulators, and stakeholders—shaping outcomes that protect water resources and advance sustainable development.Your ImpactLeading water quality modelling and assessment programs for large, complex mining and environmental projectsDirecting model development, calibration, validation, and interpretation to support environmental assessments and regulatory submissionsOverseeing multiple projects to ensure technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget performanceDesigning and supervising field programs, including baseline, operational, aquatic effects, and construction monitoringCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams to secure environmental permits, water licences, and regulatory approvalsMentoring and developing junior and intermediate staff, strengthening both technical and consulting capabilitiesActing as a senior technical representative with clients, regulators, and stakeholders, including expert witness participation when requiredThe Skills That Set You ApartA university degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a related discipline (M.Sc. or higher preferred)10+ years of progressive experience in water quality modelling and environmental assessmentAdvanced knowledge of multiple water quality modelling software platformsStrong familiarity with Canadian environmental assessment and permitting processes, particularly within miningDemonstrated experience managing projects, reviewing deliverables, and leading technical teams in a consulting environmentProven ability to communicate complex technical information clearly through reports, presentations, and stakeholder engagementA collaborative mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectivelyCompensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $110,600 – $146,500MB & ON: $100,900 – $139,000NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $99,900 – $132,700The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.Additional Information WSP welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.WSP is committed to the principles of employment equity.
