Enabling – working on shared libraries, contributing to open source, defining, documenting and evolving best practices for development in the team’s area of focus. Avoiding pitfalls – identifying potential risks in delivering complex features and proposing ways to mitigate them. Qualifications Staff‑level experience – extensive experience as a staff engineer, leading large‑scale incidents, improving architectures, sharpening runbooks and building lasting institutional knowledge. Systems thinking – deep proficiency in at least one relevant tech stack with a systems‑level mindset for complex full‑stack architectures. Modern tooling – hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted coding and deployment strategies that drive efficiency without sacrificing quality. Communication – ability to simplify complex technical trade‑offs for stakeholders and peers, proactively identify and communicate risks, and maintain a data‑driven perspective. Principled but pragmatic technical lead – strong opinions, weakly held, ready to pivot when data shows a better path for the customer. Continuous force multiplier – solves problems while building systems, tools and people around you. Owner & advocate – acts with urgency, walking backwards from the customer, treating the codebase, business strategy and stakeholders as your own.
