Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to maintain, optimize, and modernize our portal applications while managing cloud infrastructure. You will work on mission-critical projects, migrating legacy systems to modern platforms, and driving insights from complex datasets. This role requires strong technical expertise, independence, and leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead the migration of legacy portal applications to modern platforms, ensuring improved performance, scalability, and maintainability across multiple technologies (.NET, Python and R). Maintain and optimize existing portal systems, ensuring high performance in live production environments. Design, implement, and optimize SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) to support data-intensive operations and ensure efficient query performance. Build and manage large-scale data pipelines, enabling real-time processing and storage of massive datasets. Perform advanced data analysis to uncover actionable insights that drive strategic decisions across teams. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and design custom solutions for reporting and visualization. Develop and maintain both backend and frontend components of applications, ensuring seamless user experience and integration across platforms. Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS, with working knowledge of Azure, ensuring cost-efficiency, security, and scalability. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in live systems, minimizing downtime and maintaining seamless functionality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data scientists, bioinformaticians) to streamline workflows and enhance analytical tools. Develop and maintain applications across multiple technologies and frameworks, including Python, R, .NET, and frontend frameworks. Ensure efficient use of both SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases in application design and operations. Qualifications Bachelor’s/Master’s in CS, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field. 1+ years of experience with R, Python, and .NET. Experience managing AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS). Familiarity with data visualization tools (Plotly, Deck.gl, Matplotlib). Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach. Preferred Skills Familiarity with AI/LLM tools and workflows Experience in bioinformatics or biological data Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Experience with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery). Understanding of bioinformatics and scientific data processing. Knowledge of data security practices and compliance standards.
