About ÉTS The École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is a constituent institution of the Université du Québec network, specializing in applied engineering teaching, research and technology transfer. It trains engineers recognized for their practical and innovative approach. Located in the Griffintown district near Old Montreal and downtown, ÉTS is within walking distance of the Lucien‑Lallier and Bonaventure metro stations. Your Role As an IT Infrastructure Specialist in the Software Engineering and IT Department, you will act as an expert in the implementation, use, maintenance and application of technological systems. Your main project will be the design and implementation of a computing cluster for the distributed computing program to meet departmental needs, while also collaborating on various parallel projects with colleagues and faculty. On a Daily Basis, You Will Implement and manage a distributed computing software and computing infrastructure project; set up a departmental computing cluster to meet diverse teaching and research needs. Meet the needs of ÉTS researchers and external industrial or academic clients; work on related techniques, methods and practices in the institutional laboratory. Analyze, advise on and design approaches, processes, and methods related to technological development projects; work closely with the department's teaching staff. Design and develop verification, maintenance, calibration and application programs for systems; ensure their execution, allocation and balancing of existing components. Collaborate on department projects, including the acquisition and integration of third-party applications or performing technical architecture work. Plan project implementation phases and determine technical and material resource requirements. Participate, as needed, in the training of students; train those who will use the infrastructure, equipment and systems in their research. Qualifications Education: You hold a Bachelor's degree in IT Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant discipline. Experience: You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in a teaching or academic or industrial research environment, and you possess expertise in the design and implementation of academic or research projects at the IT infrastructure level. You Will Succeed If You Have Special Skills Strong ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Excellent customer service skills during the planning and execution of projects. Excellent analytical, diagnostic and complex problem‑solving skills. Comfort with advanced use and management of Linux servers. Solid understanding of basic networking. Expertise in virtualization and containerization (LXD, Docker, etc.). Other Skills Proactive, constantly curious to learn and develop new skills. Excellent analytical, diagnostic and complex problem‑solving skills. Strong ability to motivate and inspire colleagues. Fosters engagement of colleagues to achieve common objectives effectively. Knowledge of search infrastructures, as well as OpenStack and Slurm environments.
