Are you a creative, dynamic and people‑focused senior journalist looking for a new leadership challenge in a busy, daily newsroom? CBC Edmonton is looking for an executive producer to lead our news operations across a wide array of platforms. This role requires full‑time on‑site presence. Responsibilities Oversee CBC Edmonton news operations across digital, social, streaming, radio, and TV. Provide editorial oversight to ensure original, relevant, and impactful content, elevating diverse voices. Make editorial coverage decisions that align with CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. Provide guidance on legal risk management. Monitor audience and industry trends and propose future opportunities for new and emerging platforms. Coordinate and oversee live and breaking news specials. Oversee staffing, scheduling, and talent development, focusing on recruitment from under‑represented groups. Coordinate training, development, coaching, and feedback to staff. Profile University degree in journalism or equivalent; minimum seven years of journalism experience. Demonstrated experience leading teams in a fast‑paced, multi‑platform news environment. Excellent journalistic, critical thinking, and legal/ethical knowledge. Superior communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strategic thinker with track record of executing a vision. Ability to exercise quick editorial judgment and long‑term planning. High‑energy leader with a positive, team‑first attitude who motivates and mentors teams. Proven talent recognition, development, and retention skills. Commitment to developing content strategies featuring new voices and connecting with younger, diverse audiences. Strong understanding of the communities served in Edmonton and northern Alberta. People‑management skills with a passion for diversity and inclusive work culture.
