The opportunity We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Staff to join our PET team to work on many payroll and employment tax engagements across a diverse client base. Your key responsibilities Prepare / Review and deliver Canadian expatriate (shadow) payroll deliverables to external clients Team with our Mobility tax colleagues locally and globally to provide an integrated client solution in respect to the taxation and reporting of cross-border compensation Advice clients on their employer payroll tax and social security obligations in various cross-border employee situations like remote work, business travelers, etc. Support clients with payroll and employment tax audits Research and prepare responses to various technical questions related to payroll, employment tax and taxable benefits Assist clients with various payroll tax compliance issues, responding to queries from government tax agencies and providing solution-based responses to complex employment tax matters Assist Managers / Senior Managers with internal EY protocols and administration of an engagement, i.e., adhering to client acceptance procedures, developing budgets, determining resource requirements, timely invoicing, and collection of outstanding receivables Timely delivery of mandates and manage client expectations Contribute to a flexible, stable, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development and a positive attitude Skills and attributes for success Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines with a strong commitment to client service Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving ability Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Consistent attention to detail Enthusiasm and a desire to learn and grow as a business advisor To qualify for the role you must have Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business 2‑3 years of experience in international/cross-border personal taxation or Canadian payroll for international and domestic employees Strong desire to work in a payroll consulting environment (both expatriate and domestic) Aptitude to research and resolve employment (payroll) tax questions / issues Ideally, you’ll also have Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, (Word, Excel & Power‑point) What we look for Highly motivated individuals with excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to prioritize shifting workloads in a rapidly changing industry.
