Who you are: Legal Counsel who manages complex legal agreements and negotiations with business partners, focusing on transactions, privacy, intellectual property, and technology licensing. A professional with strong ethics, diplomacy, analytic and negotiation skills, and a pragmatic approach to risk management. What you'll do: Manage complex legal agreements related to technology, data licensing, government contracting, privacy, and intellectual property. Support negotiations with resellers, customers, partners, OEMs, suppliers, and governments worldwide. Provide input into legal strategy for digital contracting, third‑party flow‑through, product development, and emerging issues such as AI and data privacy. How you'll make an impact: Lead agreements such as end‑user agreements, distribution agreements, OEM, wireless carrier and NDA negotiations. Integrate legal, technical and business considerations to deliver practical solutions. Advise on risk management for product safety, compliance, cyber security and non‑practicing entities. Contribute to strategy on AI, big data, IoT, and data privacy. Develop technical knowledge of Geotab products. Use AI tools to improve processes and workflows. Support legal aspects of product design, development, implementation and litigation. Assist M&A activity and post‑integration work. Provide general legal support for corporate, commercial and HR matters. Support global strategic initiatives, including expansion and new market entry. What you'll bring to the role: 5‑8 years in a law firm or in‑house legal department. Post‑secondary degree in Law with a license to practice in Ontario and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Experience negotiating with multi‑national regulated organizations, municipalities, and government entities. Experience with technology joint ventures, M&A, and financings. Familiarity with AI, business intelligence, data analytics and related privacy issues. Experience using AI for legal research and process improvement. Background in software, programming, or related technology. Strong ethics, discretion, diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation and public speaking. Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Team player capable of engaging with all organization levels. Project management skills and ability to develop solutions that drive projects to completion. Strategic mindset, prioritization, and adaptability to changing landscapes.
