Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager Amazon North America Customer Fulfillment The Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager will partner with the site level operations team for their assigned site to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, this manager will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for associates. The manager must build trust and confidence with the operations team, influence change through risk assessments and safety data analysis, and demonstrate expertise in safety, environmental, and ergonomic knowledge. Responsibilities Understand local/regional regulations and company policy. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all Amazon Safety Policies. Measure fulfillment center performance against published safety requirements, identify deficiencies, and develop corrective action plans. Maintain safety record keeping and data integrity, providing accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives. Deliver on‑time, quality projects to Operations. Analyze safety metrics and incident trends weekly and monthly to identify high‑risk areas and propose action plans to senior leadership. Audit record‑keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries for compliance with global safety standards and local regulations. Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent. Manage and mentor the FC Safety Manager and Safety Associates. Engage Injury Prevention Specialists and Site Leadership to drive long‑term strategic actions for incident reduction. Lead soft‑tissue injury reduction efforts with IPS through targeted Kaizen events based on identified risks. Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy and audit training effectiveness. Review the effectiveness of deployed safety tools and revise for continual improvement. Partner with corporate and regional field safety personnel to integrate global safety and environmental best practices into NA network standards. Physical Demands Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach. Stand or walk for up to 12 hours during shifts. Work in an environment where the noise level varies. Work in an environment subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments). Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs). Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site. Basic Qualifications CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within 3 weeks of start. Bachelor’s degree. 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role. 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management. Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment. Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or above. Certified Safety Professional preferred. Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization. Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple business units across the nation. Prior experience in a management development training program. Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff. USA, CA, Stockton - $149,600.00 - $202,400.00 USD annually The base salary range for this position is listed below.
