OverviewLocation: Halifax - Wilkinson, Canada Thales seeks a candidate to be embedded with the Fleet Engineering Readiness (FER) section. The role serves as the liaison between coastal organizations for iterative development of the AOPV and JSS Fleet Service Schedules. In addition to schedule management, the role prioritizes deficiencies and their rectification schedules for all AJISS coastal platforms. The liaison represents Thales as a member of the AJISS Assignment Team (AAT) and is responsible for coordinating allocation, prioritization, disposition and reporting of deficiencies from notification through closeout. Reporting to the Team Services Manager, the role is responsible for tracking metrics that inform Service Delivery KPIs. Key Areas of ResponsibilityLiaise with RCN to ensure deficiencies reported by ship staff are legitimate and given appropriate repair priority. Report status of Operational Deficiencies (OPDEF) as received by RCN and regarding repair progress; ensure reported deficiencies include sufficient detail (including steps already taken) to enable development of a repair philosophy and plan; ensure deficiencies are forwarded to the Thales Canada Halifax AJISS Office with sufficient technical and operational impact information to enable proper priority setting; report operational requirements and schedule changes to the Thales Canada Halifax AJISS office; prepare regular reports as required. Promote teamwork with all levels of DND, maximizing use of the Relational Contracting model, including the agreed RC AJISS Enterprise Charter. Arrange progress meetings with RCN as required; attend regular departmental meetings with the AJISS Team Services Manager to consolidate continuous feedback and improvement; schedule and attend regular meetings with the AJISS Halifax Maintenance Team lead and Ship Maintenance Coordinators to review ship schedules for running repairs, Short Work Periods and Docking Work Periods. Act as Thales lead for Technical Program Management within RCN regarding AOPVs and JSSs within the Formation and Fleet Operational schedules. Ensure Operational, Fleet and Technical Formation Schedules consider Thales Technical Support Network (TSN) and Fleet Maintenance Facilities for load leveling of repair and maintenance effort month to month and year over year. Update documentation, procedures and templates for AJISS as requested. Provide oversight and direction to a Service Delivery team per organizational policies; coach, mentor and develop staff, oversee onboarding and career development; lead employees to meet productivity, quality and continuous improvement goals; foster teamwork; work with HR to recruit and hire appropriate staff; contribute to continuous improvement and undertake other project duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications5 years demonstrated experience within the last 10 years working with the RCN supporting maintenance and upgrade activities during Docking Work Periods (DWPs) and Short Work Periods (SWPs). Thorough knowledge of RCN deficiency reporting methodologies and experience evaluating and prioritizing defect repairs is preferred. Experience working within a Defence environment with active Defence force personnel within the past 5 years. Preferred Qualifications2 years demonstrated experience within the last 5 years liaising with Coastal Authorities (Fleet Engineering Readiness (FER)) and Coastal Fleet Maintenance Facilities (FMFs) for scheduling and execution of work and trials during DWPs and/or SWPs. Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is desirable. Physical DemandsWork in office, dockyards and onboard naval ships alongside in harbour or at sea.
