Description Libraries and Cultural Resources (LCR) at the University of Calgary invites applications for a six‑month Sessional Librarian position with responsibilities at the rank of Assistant Librarian. The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2026. This is an in‑person job in the Health Sciences Library on the Foothills Campus. Position Responsibilities Design and deliver specialized course‑based instruction and workshops to students and faculty in the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program and students and trainees in the Cumming School of Medicine, including online learning and digital tools and assessment of instruction and student learning outcomes. Actively engage with faculty members, students, and staff to promote and market library programs, services, and resources. Provide reference and research support services in multiple formats (chat, email, phone, consultation) including limited support for systematic reviews. Work collaboratively with other librarians on learning and research activities, minimal collections development, and student/faculty engagement. Provide limited support for research grant applications and funded projects. Contribute to the collaborative delivery of library services through team teaching, resource sharing and participation in collaborative projects. Maintain awareness of current and emerging trends and proactively identify appropriate service responses. Required Qualifications Master's degree from an American Library Association accredited program in librarianship, or recognized equivalent. Strong service orientation and instructional applications and technologies to support students and faculty. Comfort and familiarity with evidence and knowledge synthesis methodologies. Ability to plan and implement programming and outreach services for diverse users. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish productive collaborations with staff and faculty. Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in a dynamic environment on multiple simultaneous projects. Demonstrated ability to adjust priorities, take initiative, set goals, manage time efficiently, and make quick effective decisions in a fast‑paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Interdisciplinary undergraduate or graduate degree. Experience working in a health sciences library or in a health‑related field. Familiarity with current library technology trends and experience supporting systematic reviews. Experience conducting library instruction or teaching in an academic environment. Commitment to user instruction and consultation with users on information decision and strategy needs.
